Laura Yaussi is originally from Southern California and has called Fort Collins, Colorado home for the past 20 years. She is married to James Yaussi and has four children, ages 22, 24, 28, and 31. Laura found her calling to be a teacher ten years ago and has been living out her passion working with children and families as a teacher at Cottonwood Plains Elementary School. She taught kindergarten for five years and first grade for five years. She is currently teaching first grade in the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program at Cottonwood Plains. In DLI, students spend 50% of their day learning in English and 50% of their day learning in Spanish. The DLI program brings every element of effective education together in a powerful way. Academic achievement, multicultural education, and bilingual education create a learning environment where all students can achieve at high levels and Laura is tremendously proud to be working in this program. Laura has volunteered with the enrichment programs offered at Lago Vista for five years and she is excited to be a member of the Lago Vista Neighbor Board. Laura is deeply committed to working with the families living in Lago Vista to help create a community that feels empowered, heard, and connected to the greater Loveland community.
