Lago Vista Neighbor year-round programs are designed to assist parents in helping them with the nurture and development of their children and youth in the following ways:
- enhance the development of Christian character qualities
- develop Christian leadership attitudes and skills
- develop and reinforce positive academic habits and skills
- offer academic homework help and credit recovery programs for all K-12 students
- provide resources and connections with the public schools for parents and students
- offer scholarship and career resources and incentives for high school students
Parent Advisory Committee:
This group of Lago Vista adults, who are parents of children/youth involved in our programs, provides important input and feedback about the Lago Vista Neighbor programs. They meet about four times per year. The group is open to all Lago Vista parents with K-12 children.
MONDAY:
- Homework Help: 3:30am-5 pm (Kinder-5th grade)
- One on one homework help/academic support
- Students without homework are given academic practice, computer time, and reading time
- Graduation and Beyond 6:00-7:00 (High School)
- Encouraging high school students to graduate
- Pursue career training and/or opportunities
- Providing scholarships for good grades and graduation
TUESDAY:
- Bible Club: 3:30-5 pm (Kinder-5th grade)
- Bible stories and activities
- Not promoting any specific church
- Middle and High School Mentoring: 4-5 pm
- Assisting middle and high school students with academic and personal needs
- High School Credit Recovery: 4:30-6:00 pm
- Providing high school students the opportunity to make up classes required for graduation
- Middle & High School Youth Group: 6-7 pm
- Recreational activities, dinner, and Bible lesson & discussion
WEDNESDAY:
- Chess & Board Games/Art Club: 3:30-5 pm (K-5th gr)
- Play chess &/or board games with students
- Art Club (taught by teacher)
- Youth Leadership Team-5:15-5:45pm (6th-12th grade)
- Training youth in Christian leadership
- Bible Study, leadership skills, and team building
THURSDAY:
- Panther Club: 3:30-5 pm (Kinder-5th grade)
- Enrichment, learning and studying about various topics
- Middle and High School Mentoring: 4-5 pm
- Assisting middle and high school students with academic and personal needs
- High School Credit Recovery: 4:30-6:00 pm
- Providing high school students the opportunity to make up classes required for graduation
*All school year programs begin in September and end in April or May.
**Children/youth programs meet only when school is in session or unless notified of cancellation.
